Lumber Co. 5th in Joliet USSSA "D" NIT

Lumber Company went 3-2 this weekend to finish 5th out of 29 teams in the Joliet USSSA "D" NIT. The 5th place finish earned Lumber Co. a National Berth to the Great Lakes National Tournament in Blaine, MN over Labor Day Weekend, August 30th and 31st. The NIT featured teams from 3 states including Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota. LoCo opened the tourney with a 13-9 win over Stevenson Auto Repair from Buckingham, IL. LoCo was lead by E.Boe's 4 hits and J.Filas' 3 base knocks. In game 2 LoCo was matced up against Primetime from Joliet. Lumber Co. won this game by a final score of 6 to 5. K.Wallace lead the LoCo with 3 hits and S.Munday, J.Lesnik, J.Filas and R.Nurczyk all chipped in with 2. Lumber Company's final game on Saturday was against Roaddawgs, also from Joliet. Lumber Company mounted a 3 run two out rally in the bottom of the 7th to win this game 9 to 8. R.Nurczyk and M.Wallace each had big 2 out RBI singles to keep the game alive, with the winning run scoring off the bat of B.Munday. Having good games for the Lumber Co. were B.Walsh and M.Wallace with 3 hits a piece and J.Filas, E.Boe, B.Munday and S.Munday all adding 2 hits each. Lumber Co.'s first game on Sunday was against Michigan Mush, from Warren, MI. Michigan Mush is the number 1 ranked "D" team in the state of Michigan. The LoCo's bats were cold and the MI squad defeated them by a final score of 13-4. Jeff Behun had 3 hits for the Lumber Co. in the losing effort. LoCo's final game of the tournament was a tough 17-12 loss to Spare Parts from Arlington Heights, IL. LoCo scored 5 runs in the top of the fifth to take a 12-9 lead, but Spare Parts was able to answer with 5 of their own runs in the bottom of the frame to go up 14-12, then came back with 3 more runs in the 6th while holding the LoCo scoreless in both the 6th and 7th innings. Lumber Company's top hitters for the weekend were K.Wallace, .600; M.Wallace, .588; B.Walsh, .562; J.Filas, .529; J.Lesnik, .500 and R.Nurzcyk, .500. Lumber Company's next game is Tuesday night at 8:30pm against Kubinski Excavating on field #3. Below is a clip of M.Staab hitting against Michigan Mushimage

LoCo Opens in USSSA "D" NIT at 10:00am

Lumber Company's first game in this weekend's USSSA "D" NIT in Joliet will be at 10:00am on field #3. Lumber Co. opens with Stevenson Auto Repair from Buckingham, IL. There are 29 teams in this weekend's "D" NIT, including 3 teams from Michigan and 2 from Minnesota. Lumber Co. to 2-1 on Friday Nights

Lumber Co. lost their first game in their JPD Friday Night "B" league to Uncle Richies by a final score of 16-11, moving their Friday record to 2-1. Having good nights for the LoCo were E.Boe with 3 hits and R.Nurczyk (1 HR), B.Munday, J.Filas and J.Lesnik with 2 hits each. Lumber Company's next game is Friday night, June 6th, at 7:30pm on field #2 against Hope Softball. This game will serve as a tune-up for this weekend's June 7th and 8th USSSA "D" NIT in Joliet.

LoCo knocks Ken's out by 15 in 3 Innings

In Friday night "B" league action the Lumber Company rolled past Ken's Beverage by a final score of 19-5. In the 15 run rule 3 inning victory Lumber Company hitting stars were Ryan Nurczyk, 3-3, 2 HRs, 5 RBIs; Scott Munday, 2-2, 1 3B, 3 RBIs; Jeff Behun, 2-2, 1 HR, 1 3B and Matt Wallace homered. Lumber Company improved their Friday Night "B" record to 2-0. Lumber Company's next game is Saturday morning in the May 24th USSSA "D" qualifier at 9:00am vs. Payroll One on field #5.image

LoCo gets Smoked

In Tuesday night JPD "B" league action the Lumber Co. got smoked by rival D'arcy by a final score of 15-0. This game was never close, as the Lumber Company ended up with more stitches, six in the chin of third basemen Bob Munday, then they did hits or runs. LoCo tries to get back on track Friday night in a key Friday JPD "B" league game against Uncle Richies. The game is at 6:30pm on field #4.
