Lumber Company 2004 Tournament Schedule

Lumber Company's 2004 tournament schedule is as follows. Please try to keep these weekends open so we have as many guys at each tournament as possible. April 17th & 18th - USSSA "D" Qualifier, Joliet, IL May 8th & 9th - USSSA "D" Qualifier, Joliet, IL May 29th & 30th - USSSA "D" NIT, Indianapolis, IN June 5th & 6th - USSSA "C" NIT, Joliet, IL June 19th & 20th - USSSA "D" NIT, Joliet, IL July 10th & 11th - NSA "D" Super World NIT, Kankakee, IL July 24th & 25th - USSSA "D" NIT, Merrillville, IN July 26th-30th - Joliet City Tournament (Open Division), Joliet, IL Aug 7th & 8th - USSSA "D" or "C" Qualifier, Joliet, IL Aug 21st & 22nd - USSSA Northern "D" State, Rockford, IL Aug 28th & 29th - USSSA Central "D" State, Peoria, IL Lumber Company may play in a couple of the following year end tournaments depending on what we qualify for. Lumber Co. Scores 40 Runs in Win Over Hope

Lumber Company scored 40 runs in their final game of the 2003 summer season, beating Hope Softball by a final score of 40 to 32 in the JPD Friday night "B" league contest. Leading the Lumber Company's offensive explosion were M.Wallace, 7-7, 1 BB, 1 HR, 1 3B, 3 2Bs, 11 RBIs; S.Munday, 4-4, 3 BBs; J.Miko, 6-7, 2 2Bs, 3 RBIs; J.Lesnik, 5-6, 2 BBs, 4 RBIs; B.Munday, 4-6, 2 BBs, 1 3B, 1 2B, 6 RBIs; J.Butscher, 4-6, 1 BB, 1 HR; M.Staab, 4-6, 1 3B, 1 2B, 3 RBIs and R.Nurczyk 1 HR, 3 RBIs. Lumber Company finished a very successful 2003 season which included the following highlights. -1st Place - Joliet City Tournament -5th Place - USSSA "D" Great Lakes National Tournament (78 Teams) -5th Place - USSSA "D" Illinois State Tournament (68 Teams) -Final USSSA "D" Ranking of 5th out of 133 Illinois teams Lumber Company would like to thank all of our great fans and sponsors for making 2003 a very fun and successful season. Lumber Co. Finish 5th at USSSA "D" Nationals

Lumber Company finished 5th out of 78 teams in the Great Lakes USSSA "D" National Tournament in Milford, OH held over Labor Day weekend. Lumber Company finished with a 5-2 record, the tourney featured teams from 5 states including Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and West Virginia. Lumber Co. opened the tourney with a 10-9 victory over Washington Wicked from Washington, OH. The Lumber Company scored 1 run in the bottom of the 7th to win this game. Leading the LoCo offense was R.Nurczyk with 3 hits and B.Munday and J.Lesnik with 2. Lumber Company was matched up with Dave's Boys from Louisville, KY in game 2. Lumber Company was trailing by 6 runs going into the bottom of the 6th, but a 5 run 6th cut the deficit to 1 run. A B.Munday RBI single with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th tied the game. Neither Dave's Boys or Lumber Co. could score in the 8th. In the bottom of the 9th B.Walsh walked, R.Nurczyk single and M.Wallace walked to load the bases. A B.Munday sac fly drove in the winning run giving the LoCo the 9 inning thriller by the final score of 14-13. Game 3 had the LoCo paired up with Geno's from Columbus, OH. Again late inning heroics won this game for the Lumber Co. The LoCo was trailing by 4 runs heading into the bottom of the 7th. However in this inning the bats got hot. 8 straight singles by B.Walsh, E.Boe, R.Nurczyk, M.Wallace, B.Munday, J.Filas, M.Staab and K.Wallace allowed the LoCo to score 5 runs without making an out, winning by a final score of 6-5. In this game E.Boe, R.Nurczyk, B.Munday, J.Filas and M.Staab led the offense with 2 hits each. In game 4 Lumber Co. was paired up with Tina's from Ft. Mitchell, KY. The LoCo bats went cold and Tina's won by a final of 15-2. The lone bright spot was a 2-2 game by S.Munday. In game number 5 Lumber Company squared off against the defending Illinois USSSA "D" State Champs, Slugs, from Aurora, IL. Slugs just knocked the LoCo out of the Illinois State tourney last weekend. In this game the Lumber Co. were looking for revenge and they got it. This game was all Lumber Company as they won in 5 inning by the run rule with the final score Lumber Co. 14, Slugs 2. Lumber Co. hitting stars were E.Boe, 3-3; R.Nurczyk, 3-3, 2 RBIs; B.Munday, 3-3, 3 RBIs; J.Filas, 2-2, 1 BB, 2 RBIs; J.Lesnik 2-2, 1 BB; K.Wallace 2-3 and M.Wallace 2-3. In game 6 Lumber Company played Regulators from Wilmington, OH. LoCo advanced to the top 5 by beating Regulators by a final score of 11-5. 3 hits each by B.Petersen and M.Wallace led the offense in this game. In game number 7 Lumber Company was matched with Battle Cats from Fairfield, IL. This game was back and forth with the Lumber Co. taking a 4 run lead into the bottom of the 7th, however Battle Cats were able to plate 5 runs to win by a final of 16-15 and end the Lumber Co.'s tournament. A 5-2 record and 5th place finish over some of the best teams in the USSSA Great Lakes region is something to be very proud of. All 12 players contributed to the Lumber Company's success in this tournament, weather it was offensively or defensively . Leading the LoCo offense over the entire weekend were J.Lesnik, .667; All-Tournament Team selection B.Munday, .650, 9RBIs; J.Behun .625, 6 RBIs; K.Wallace, .600, 8 RBIs; J.Filas, .588, 5 RBIs; R.Nurczyk, .560, 7 RBIs and M.Walalce .500, 5 RBIs. Lumber Company opens play in the Great Lakes USSSA "D" National Tournament in Milford, OH on Saturday, August 30th at 12:00pm against the winner of Washington Wicked vs. 2 in Out . Washington Wicked is from Washington, OH and 2 in Out is from Hebron, KY. Lumber Company's first game will be at Riverstar Park. Lumber Company finished 5th in the 68 team USSSA "D" Illinois State Tournament. Lumber Co. went 4-2 on the weekend in route to the fifth place hardware. Lumber Company opened the tournament with a 20-7 run rule win over Baisch Construction from Joliet, IL. Leading the LoCo offense this game was B.Walsh, 4-4, 3 RBIs; B.Munday, 4-4, 2 RBIs, E.Boe, 3-3, 1 BB, 2 RBIs; M.Wallace, 2-2, 3 RBIs and B. Petersen homered. Lumber Co.'s opponent in game two was Fudrucker's from Addison, IL. Lumber Co. kept with their winning ways and defeated Fudrucker's by a final score of 11-9. LoCo hitting stars were J.Lesnik, 3-3, 3 RBIs; B.Petersen, 3-3 and J.Filas 2-2. Lumber Co. squared off against Joltin' Joe's from Waukegan, IL in game number 3. This game saw the Lumber Company bats heat up as they clobbered Joltin' Joe's by a final score of 21-2 in a 4 inning 15 run rule victory. Leading the Lumber Co. attack with 3 hits each were B.Petersen, E.Boe, B.Munday, M.Staab and K.Wallace. Lumber Company's 4th and final game on Saturday was against Cold Beer from Champaign, IL. Cold Beer came into this game with a perfect 9-0 record in 2003 USSSA play. That however would change as the LoCo bats stayed hot and the Lumber Co. would win another run rule victory 11-1 in 5 innings. Leading the offense in this game was J.Lesnik, 3-3, 2 RBIs; J.Behun, 3-3; B.Walsh, 2-2, 2 BBs; M.Staab, 2-2, 1 BB; E.Boe, 3-4, 1 HR, 4 RBIs; R.Nurczyk 2-3 and J.Filas, 2-3. Coming into Sunday the Lumber Co. was confident having never trailed and inning in there 4 games on Saturday. However the new day saw the LoCo bats cool off. Lumber Company's first game Sunday was against Carlson Intermodal from Rockford, IL. This game was all Carlson as they won by a final of 12-2 in 6 innings. The lone LoCo bright spot was a 3-3 game by J.Filas. Lumber Co.'s 6th game of the tournament was against Slugs from Aurora, IL. In this game Lumber Co. had some good scoring chances but could never get the big hit to really have an inning. This would come back to haunt the LoCo as they would fall 10-6 to Slugs, who would go on to eventually win the State Championship. LoCo's top hitters in this game were E.Boe, 4-4, 2 RBIs; J.Lesnik 3-3 and M.Wallace 1-1, 2 BBs. Though the Lumber Co. was looking for a State Championship, 5th place out of 68 teams is something to be proud of. Top Lumber Company hitters for the weekend were J.Lesnik, .786, 8 RBIs; E.Boe, .750, 1 HR, 14 RBIs; J.Filas, .647, 6 RBIs; B.Walsh, .625, 5 BBs; M.Wallace, .571, 6 RBIs; B.Petersen, .562; R.Nurczyk, .526, 6 RBIs; B.Munday, .526 and M.Staab, .500. Lumber Company's next game will be in the Great Lakes USSSA "D" National Tournament, Saturday, August 30th , in Milford, OH.
