Lumber Co. 7th at USSSA "D" Central State

Lumber Company went 2-2 at the 2004 USSSA Central "D" State tournament in Bartonville (Peoria), IL good for 7th place. Lumber Company opened the tourney with a heart breaking 11-10 loss to No Comment Softball (Baseball Card City) from Peoria, IL. Lumber Company led the game 10-9 going into the bottom of the 7th, but No Comment was able to plate 2 runs to capture the 11-10 victory. Lumber Company's played Sauder Sports from Roanoke, IL in their second game and came away victorious by a final score of 6-1. In Lumber Company's 3rd game they faced off with Heroes and Legends from Joliet. Lumber Co. won by the 10 run rule in 6 innings by a final score of 14-4. The Loco opened Sunday with a match-up with Big Ox softball from Wyoming, IL. The Lumber Co. did not get the offense going this game and lost by a final score of 11-2. Lumber Co 3-2 at USSSA Northern "D" State

Lumber Company went 3-2 in the 64 team USSSA "D" Northern State Tournament in Rockford, IL good for 17th place. Lumber Company opened the tourney with a 12-6 win over Burkhart Trucking from Pecatonica, IL. Lumber Co. opened the state tourney off with a 12 run first inning and coasted from there. In game number 2 Lumber Co. was paired up against Joltin' Joes from Waukegan, IL. Joltin' Joes sent the LoCo to the loser's bracket knocking them off by a final score of 11-6. Lumber Co. opened play in the loser's bracket with a 14-7 win over Ice House Dogs from Chicago, IL. The win advanced Lumber Co. to a match-up with One Dog from Joliet, IL. This game was all Lumber Company as they won by the 15 run rule in 4 innings by a final score of 17-2. In Lumber Company's 5th game of the day they were matched up with a tough Adams Service team out of Crystal Lake, IL. Lumber Company owned a 10-0 lead after 2 innings of play but Adams Service would battle back and eventually win the game by a final score of 16-11 ending the LoCo's state title hopes. Leading the Lumber Co. offense all weekend were E.Boe, .812, 2 HRs, 9 RBIs; J.Filas, .750; B.Munday, .625, 5 RBIs; A.Blazekovich, .533; J.Lesnik, .500; R.Nurczyk, 1 HR, 8 RBIs; M.Wallace, 1 HR and 7 RBIs and M.Staab, 7 RBIs. Lumber Co. Wins Joliet USSSA "D" Qualifier

Lumber Company went a perfect 5-0 to win the 21 team Joliet USSSA "D" Qualifier on August 7th and 8th. Lumber Company opened the tourney with a 7-5 win against Ice House Dogs from Chicago, IL. Pacing the Lumber Co. offense in game one were B.Walsh, A.Blazekovich and R.Nurczyk with two hits each. E.Boe also homered and drove in two runs. In game number two Lumber Company faced Kline Construction from Elgin, IL. Lumber Co. won this game by the 10 run rule in 5 innings by a final score of 12-2. Leading the LoCo offense were J.Filas, 4-4; M.Wallace, 3-3; E.Boe, 2-3, 1 HR, 3 RBIs; J.Lesnik, 2-3 and A.Blazekovich, 2-4, 3 RBIs. Game three had the Lumber Co. playing Wicked, also from Joliet. Lumber Company advanced to the winner's bracket championship by defeating Wicked by a final score of 13-7. Key offensive contributors in this game were A.Blazekovich with 3 hits as well as J.Filas, R.Nurczyk (1 HR, 5 RBIs), J.Lesnik and K.Wallace all with two hits each. On Sunday Lumber Company opened with Roaddawgs from Joliet in the winner's bracket final. Lumber Company jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after 2 innings and never looked back, winning by a final of 12-8. Top hitters in this game were E.Boe 4-4, 3 RBIs; J.Filas 3-3 and J.Pool, A.Blazekovich (4 RBIs), M.Staab, J.Lesnik and K.Wallace all with 2 hits. After sitting back and waiting for the loser's bracket to play out, it would again be the Roaddawgs who the Lumber Company would have to knock off to win the tournament title. Much like in the first game the Lumber Company would take an early 4 run lead and never look back winning by a final score of 11-8. Leading the Lumber Company in the Championship game were A.Blazekovich, 4-4; K.Wallace, 3-3; M.Wallace, 3-4; J.Filas, E.Boe and J.Spisak all had two hits a piece. In winning the tournament Lumber Company received paid USSSA State and National berths. The leading Lumber Co. hitters for the weekend were J.Filas, .800, 5 RBIs; K.Wallace, .692; A.Blazekovich, .667, 10 RBIs; J.Lesnik, .636; E.Boe, .588, 2 HRs, 10 RBIs; M.Wallace, .562 and R.Nurczyk 1 HR, 11 RBIs. This weekend's tourney win was a total team effort with all 13 guys playing hard and contributing, either with the bat or the glove. K.Wallace also pitched a great tourney, with the Lumber Co. only trailing for one or two innings the entire weekend. Lumber Company was knocked out of the Joliet City Tournament's Open division on Thursday night by rival D"Arcy. The final score was D'Arcy 13, Lumber Co. 1. Lumber Company finished the Open tourney 2-2, which was good for 4th place. Having good nights at the plate for the Lumber Co. were K.Wallace, 2-2; R.Nurczyk, 2-3 and M.Wallace, 2-3. The loss ended Lumber Co.'s run of 11 games in 8 straight days (between league play, a USSSA NIT and the Joliet City Tournament). A 4th place finish for the Lumber Co. in a bracket with the best teams in Joliet in their first Open Tourney is something to be proud of. With the win over the Lumber Co., D'Arcy advanced to face KAOS in the 9:00pm game Thursday night to earn a chance to play Ken's Beverage Friday night in the Championship game of the Joliet City Open Tourney. In a good game KAOS came away with victory with the final score being KAOS 17, D'Arcy 15. So the Open Championship is set, Ken's Beverage and KAOS will square off on Friday night at 7:45pm on field #1. Lumber Company's next game will be in JPD league play on Thursday, August 5th at 7:30pm versus KAOS on field #4.image
The Lumber Co. "Blue Train" kept rolling on Wednesday night in the Joliet City Tournament's Open Division. In thier 3rd 1 run game of the tournament the Lumber Co. knocked out Car X/Glory Days by a final score of 8-7. The Lumber Co. defense and timely hitting were just enough to improve their record to 2-1 in the tourney and place them among the final 4 teams. Leading the LoCo offense were J.Filas, 3-4; J.Lesnik, 2-3; J.Pool, 2-4; M.Wallace, 1-1 and 2 BBs, B.Munday 2 RBIs and B.Walsh 2 RBIs. Lumber Co. plays Thursday night, July 29th, at 7:30pm against rival D'Arcy on field #1. The Lumber Co./D'Arcy winner will earn a 9:00pm match-up with KAOS. Other Joliet City Tournament Open division results from Wednesday night were as follows. Ken's Beverage 18, KAOS 5 and D'Arcy 15, Primetime 2. Thursday night's slate of games in the Open are as follows. Lumber Co. vs. D'Arcy KAOS vs. Lumber Co./D'Arcy winner Whatever team survives the bracket tonight will face Ken's Beverage Friday night in the Joliet City Tournament's Open division Championship.
