Pitch Hit and Run FAQ
PITCH HIT AND RUN FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Who is eligible?
A:
All boys and girls, age 7-14 as of July 17, 2007.
Q: When and
where is the competition?
A: The competition will be held on Sunday,
April 29, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., at Allen Field, NE 17th Ave. and
162nd Street, North Miami Beach.
Q: What are the levels of
competition?
A: The four levels are 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14.
Q:
What do you do to sign up?
A: Just come to the competition with a
parent or guardian and fill out the short registration form and
waiver. If you are not a member of the NMBLL, you will need to bring
your birth certificate or some other proof of age.
Q: What do I
bring?
A: You may bring a bat, but if you do, you will have to allow
anyone else at the competition to use it. You should wear baseball
cleats for running. You do not need a glove.
Q: What will I have
to do?
A: Pitch, Hit & Run.
Q: What do I have to do in pitching?
A:
You will have 6 pitches to hit a strike zone from 45 feet away. The more
strikes you throw, the higher you score. It doesn’t matter how fast you
throw, just how accurate you are.
Q: What do I have to do in hitting?
A:
You will get 5 swings to hit a baseball off a tee. Your score will
depend on how far you hit the ball, and how straight you hit it. (It’s
the same concept as Punt, Pass & Kick, for those of you who entered that
competition.)
Q: What about running?
A: You will be
timed on how fast you run from second base to home (a total distance of
160 feet). You must touch third base and home, and no sliding is allowed.
Q:
Who wins?
A: We will give ribbons to the All-Around Champion,
All-Around Runner-up, and All-Around Third Place in each age group. We
will also give ribbons to the Pitching Champion, the Hitting Champion
and the Running Champion in each age group.
Q: What happens if I
win?
A: All first place ribbon winners (All-Around, Pitching,
Hitting, and Running) get to compete at the next level, called a
Sectional Competition. (We don’t know yet when or where that will be,
but it will probably be sometime in May.)
