Tournament Dates, Sites Set

Posted by Jim Allen at May 19, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The District 8 Little League tournament will have a very different look this year. In prior years, the district tournament has been double elimination: Lose two games and you go home. This year, the 11-12 and 9-10 year old teams will play pool play instead. We will be in the northern division, which will also include Liberty City, Bunche Park, North Miami National, North Miami American, and Ives. We will play each of those teams once. Our tournament will start Monday, June 28, and will be played at Pepper Park--no buses to the Keys this year! The two top finishers from our division will then play the two top finishers from the South in a SINGLE elimination final round. The 11s, Juniors and Seniors will all play double elimination. The 11s will play at Doral, and the Juniors and Seniors in Homestead. There will be at least 2 other 11 year old teams: Doral and Marathon. If it stays at that number, the 11 tournament will be the weekend after the Fourth. Further details regarding the tournament will be published here as it becomes available. Stay tuned!

Last Chance to Get Coach Evaluations In!

Posted by Jim Allen at May 19, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
It is hard to believe, but the end of our 2004 season is about a month away. We hope you have been enjoying this great game we call baseball, and will continue to do so for many years to come. The most important person in your child’s baseball life (besides you, of course!) is his or her coach. We try very hard to use the volunteers with the right knowledge, experience, and attitude for your child’s team. We want to know, from both you and your child, what you thought of this year’s manager, or head coach. To help you communicate with us, we mailed two evaluation forms to each of our families—one for parents, one for children. We must receive your completed forms no later than Sunday, May 23, 2004. At this late date, we must ask that you download them from this site (in handout below) and return them by email. If we receive them after Sunday, we will of course review them, but it will be too late to consider them in support of our decision to make Coach of the Year awards. Thanks for your continued support of the NMBOLL.
