Northville vs. Port Huron

Posted by Bill Holden on Jan 23 2004 at 04:00PM PST
On January 23, the Mustangs played host to the Port Huron Rebels. The two teams were very evenly matched throughout the whole game. The Rebels struck first, taking an early 1-0 lead. The Mustangs quickly rebounded with a goal of their own. Kate Latham made a pass to Emily Doren, who sent it right into the goal, tying the game at 1. The Rebels rebounded again, making the score 2-1 at the end of the first period. Halfway through the second period a scramble occured in front of the net and the Rebels managed to score another goal, putting them up 3-1. Without a break to clean the ice, the third period began. The tired Mustangs fought back with Bridget Hughes scoring a goal, making the score 3-2. In the last minute of play the Rebels had a penalty and the Mustang's pulled their goalie, giving the Mustang's a 6-4 girl advantage; however, the Mustangs could not come up with another goal, leading to a loss of 3-2. The Mustangs look forward to another matchup with the Rebels!
