Ladywood Wraps Up Third Place With Victory Over Regina!

Posted by Bruce Peck on Mar 01 2003 at 04:00PM PST
Ladywood defeated catholic league rival Regina for the second time this season by a score of 4-2. The win enabled the Blazers to overtake Grosse Pointe North for third place and finish with a record of 15-5. It was a night dominated by the seniors. Senior Katie Karabelski scored, unassisted, early in the first period while shorthanded. Senior Sara Sharp scored early in the second period on a pass by junior Molly Zarb. Senior Tess Castine scored, unassisted, less than a minute later while on a power play. Finishing the scoring for Ladywood was junior Mary Beth O'Dea at the 7:51 mark of the second period. The Blazers played perhaps two of their best periods of the year, but the game was not over. The third period saw seven penalties in total, and some sloppy hockey. Regina scored two goals during the period, but could never get any closer. Senior Meg MacDonell played an inspired game in her last regular season outing as a Blazer, and Freshman Molly Sharp played well in net to get the victory.
