RAYMOND TROMBADORE PASSES AWAY

Posted by Martin Gleason on May 20 2002 at 05:00PM PDT
The Borough of Bound Brook and State of New Jersey lost a great citizen on May 8, 2002 with the passing of Raymond R. Trombadore. He and his wife Anne are the parents of one of the finest wrestling families in the history of Bound Brook High School. Bob Trombadore’75 was the first son to wrestle for Bound Brook winning a district championship in 1975. He went on to attend and compete at the United States Naval Academy. Dave Trombadore’77 also won a district championship for Bound Brook in 1975 and went to on to compete and attend Princeton University. Dave and Bob actually had to wrestle each other in a dual meet while in college. Tom Trombadore’79 won a district and region title, and placed fourth in the state of New Jersey at 141 lbs. He had one of the greatest days in BB wrestling history at the region tournament. He defeated an undefeated Larry Nisovaccia of J.P. Stevens in the semi-finals and then majored eventual State Champion Tom Gibble of Hunterdon Central in the finals. Tom went on to attend Stanford University. Matt Trombadore’84 was the final installment of the family to wrestle at Bound Brook and placed second in the district and fourth in Region 5. Matt lost to State Champion Derek Capana in his district final. Mr. Trombadore was one of the most respected attorneys in New Jersey and lead the way on many ethic issues nationally. He is survived by his wife Ann and another son Bill. The Trombadores have one daughter Maryann who was a stand-out cross country athlete at BBHS and attended Stanford University. God Bless the Trombadores!
