Beaver United really puts the "International" in SIFL. With over ten different nationalities representing five continents Beaver United is the embodiment of the expat pub football team. Although we hail from all parts of the globe, we all speak the same language, football.
Beaver United has a long history in the SIFL being one of the founding members. Peter "The Godfather" Povorozniuc and a group of his fellow Russian comrades founded Shanghai United way back in 1996 instilling a strong team spirit and a weakness for Russian vodka that endures today. Since then Shanghai United has gone on to be sponsored by our drinking oasis "The Beaver" that has given us our iconic name (or infamous depending on who you ask).
Our second team, Re-united, play in the first division of the SIFL, allowing us to accommodate a range of abilities, from the sublime to the, well, not-so-sublime. We also welcome dwarfs, women, the blind, homosexuals, lepers and the Welsh
Playing with Beaver United won't give you Champions League Football but it will help to make life in China that little bit easier and possibly give you minor kidney and liver damage.
Just remember, you can never have too much beaver!
