Katz's Kids play in the T-Ball division of the Forest Hills Little League. Most of the youngsters that play in this division are six years old with some five year olds. A majority of the players in the Forest Hills Little League are from the Forest Hills, Rego Park, Kew Gardens, Corona, Elmhurst and Woodhaven areas. T-Ball is a great opportunity for youngsters to become acquainted with the game of baseball. For many, T-Ball League is the first step in a child's baseball development. The focus of the program is fun through T-Ball where children will be taught the fundamentals of throwing, fielding, and hitting. Standing at home plate, youngsters hit a stationary safety-ball (slightly lighter and softer than a regular baseball) off an adjustable rubber tee that is about chest high. The games are usually played on Saturday morning at 10:00 AM on the Fleet Street Fields (66-01 Fleet Street). The games are instructional, noncompetitive, not scored and league standings are not kept. The FHLL provides each team with bats, balls and other necessary equipment as well as a uniform (team shirt, pants, hat and socks). Players must provide their own glove.
