HHS DEFEATS PORTLAND 7-0
PORTLAND Senior Grant Williams and junior Andrew Dorris combined on a one-hitter as the Hendersonville High baseball team claimed a 7-0 victory at Portland on Wednesday evening.
Williams – who was playing in just his second game with the Commandos this season after transferring back to Hendersonville High from West Monroe, La. – allowed just one hit over the first six innings, striking out six hitters. He took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before senior Brice Snook led off with a single.
Senior teammate Will Wacaser pitched a no-hitter in the team’s 14-0, five-inning win over the visiting Panthers on Tuesday evening.
Dorris struck out one and faced the minimum in the seventh.
The Commandos (16-3 overall, 5-1 in District 9-AAA) scored in four different innings.
Senior Aaron Weakley had three of Hendersonville’s 12 hits, and Williams, senior Andrew Larson and senior Jon Swindle all had two hits. Both Larson and senior Ian MacMaster scored two runs, and Swindle drove in three runs.
