Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Code of Ethics

Posted by Donald Wilkerson on Dec 05 2007 at 04:00PM PST
As the most influential person on the basketball court, and in the interest of good sportsmanship and sound educational endeavor, I, the basketball coach from the great state of Texas will strive to abide by the following: Demonstrate sportsmanship and positive human relations on and off the court. Work with officials to insure the integrity of the game, to mutually exemplify high moral character, behavior, and leadership. Respect the opponent, initially extending and providing a warm, safe, and friendly playing environment, and summatively displaying modesty in victory and graciousness in defeat. Respect the integrity and personality of ALL athletes, coaches, administrators, media and fans. Know and abide by the rules of the game. Demonstrate proud, positive interest in my profession through personal improvement and the directed encouragement toward membership in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. Strive to genuinely promote learning by supporting all academic endeavors of all athletes for their entire career. Support all school educational programs by appreciating the importance and integral worth of these endeavors. Encourage, through standards of conduct, direction and example, the growth and development of leadership, initiative, and good judgment in young athlete.
