Fort Bend Marshall 77 - Clear Lake 75
Coming into the contest at Marshall the Buffalos had 8 games under their belt (3-5) compared to 2 easy victories for Lake. Marshall got out to an early 9-2 lead. Lake trailed the entire game due to a slow start and trailed by as much as 16 in the second quarter. Marshall's much better offensive rebounding in the first half hurt Lake's cause (Marshall 10, Lake 4). Lake committed 10 turnovers in the first half which did not help either. After a lastluster first quarter, doubtful fans feared it might continue but Lake got on track and it never felt out of reach.
An impressive Lake fourth quarter showing in which the squad scored 35 points to narrow the gap to 2 at the final buzzer was led by a valiant 17 point performance by Rob Lewis. Lewis led all scorers with 32 points including 12 of 15 from the free throw line. Marshall scored 15 points off free throws in the fourth quarter after having scored only 2 points on free throws in the previous three periods.
