2006-07 Out of State Tournament To Be In San Diego

This season the Varsity Boys will travel to San Diego, California to play in the Torrey Pines Holiday Prep Classic Basketball Tournament on December 27-29, 2006. Clear Lake will play in the National Division. Our first game will be on Wednesday, Dec. 27, at 11:05 a.m. at Cathedral High School. Our second game will be at 8:30 p.m. at Torrey Pines High School. Torrey Pines Coach Profile John Olive is in his 10th season as head coach of the boys basketball program at Torrey Pines. During his tenure, Coach Olive has led the Falcons to three league championships and a CIF championship in 2001. The boys benefit greatly from John's previous college and NBA basketball experiences as well as from his high standards for hard work and team focus. Coach Olive was a highly recruited high school basketball player and honored as a High School All American. Coach Olive received a full athletic scholarship from Villanova University. After college he was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers and then traded to the San Diego Clippers where he played for several years. Subsequently, Coach Olive joined Villanova University as Assistant Basketball Coach. During this time, 1985-1992, Villanova went to four NCAA tournaments and won a National Championship. Coach Olive was inducted into the Villanova University Athletic Hall of Fame. Coach Olive was hired as the head coach by Loyola Marymount University and had much success over his 5 years of tenure. While at Loyola he was named West Coast Conference Coach of the Year in 1996.
