Agenda

  • 3 on 3 Update, Vote, Treasurer Report
  • Upcoming events and Concessions/Hospitality
  • Raffle Tickets & Miscellaneous Items

First agenda item  Terry thanked all who helped and participated in the 3 on 3 tournament.  It was a big success and the kids had a lot of fun.  We made about the same as last year.   A nomination was made, voted on, and approved for Sally Sugarek as Secretary of the Booster Club.  Joe Swingle gave the treasurer’s report:  We started the year with $500 and have made an additional $3800 so far this year for a current total of $4300.  There is still some additional money coming from concessions, tournament fees and decal sales. Joe also said we have 20 paid booster club members so far. We currently have 4 sponsors:  3 at the $200 level and 1 at the $600 level.  He will need the artwork to complete the printing in the programs, and signs.  Coach Penders also mentioned that there were a lot of people who opted for the buyout in the candy sales, but he hopes to have additional candy sales with some of the newcomers that join basketball after completing other sports.

Second agenda item.
The teams are scrimmaging with other teams this week, and Varsity has a home scrimmage on Saturday, November 13th, but no concessions are needed that day. Non-district games begin on Tuesday, November 16. The CCISD tournament will be played at Clear Lake High School beginning December 2, thru December 4.  We are only responsible for the concessions and the hospitality room on Friday, December 3rd. (Total proceeds are split for all days among the district). Coach Penders wants us to make our day in the hospitality room, the best!  A couple of the parents who have some knowledge in that area gave suggestions for restaurants to contact for food donations, etc. Terry asked us to send any ideas we have for the hospitality room to him. He also wants to get a small group together that can help with the organization of it, and have another meeting with them prior to the CCISD tournament so plans can be finalized.

Leigh Ann Train is making the concessions sign up chart for the tourney which will require 2 workers at both the Krueger Field House and the Main building for the games beginning at 3:30, into the evening.

Joe Swingle will provide the boards and printing for the tournament brackets.   Terry said the concessions for other home games this season will be split by class group:  Sr class-responsible for filling slots for November, Jr class for December, Fr  class- for January, and Soph class for February.  He said 2 to 3 parents to head up each grade level would be best.  People can work any dates, the grade level is just in charge of filling the spots for their assigned month.

Additional items.
Coach Frye told us about several pro sports items to be raffled off.  Tickets will be sold at the first few games, and possibly announcements can be made during the games to let people know.  The 3 items up for the raffle are: -         Signed picture of Earl Campbell-         Signed basketball by Calvin Murphy-
Signed basketball by Luis Scola
We discussed the possibility of selling tickets, t-shirts, and decals, at a separate table close to entrance, if we have enough volunteers to staff that along with the concession stand.
Coach Penders let us know that order forms for warm-up shirts, and other t-shirts for purchase were sent home with the players.
Also, the notice about the drinks each player is to bring, was sent home and are as follows: each player is to bring 5 – 12 packs of the following drinks based on their team: Varsity – Dr. Pepper; JV- Orange Soda (Crush or Fanta); Soph – Diet Coke; Freshmen A – Sprite; Freshman B - Coke.

Coach Penders also let us know that school administrators will be attending games and if the fans behavior becomes poor, they can give out yellow cards, or red cards, and that could result in removal from the Field House or gym.

Don Wilkerson showed us an example of a really nice program that could be made for fans to purchase (similar to football, volleyball, etc), and said we should try to make something like that for our basketball teams this year or next.

Next meeting- December 13, 6:30 pm, Krueger Field House
