Game 4 - CCISD Tournament Game 1 - Houston Sterling vs. Clear Lake

In first round action of the 83rd annual Carlisle-Krueger Classic Boys Basketball Tournament Clear Lake defeated Houston Sterling HS by a score of 80-41. Clear Lake will face Manvel at 1:30pm  Friday. This should be a formidable undertaking for the Falcons.

In other action Clear Springs defeated Pasadena, Clear Creek over Pasadena Memorial, Clear Brook over Galena Park, Fort Bend Elkins over South Houston,  Clear Falls over Milby, North Shore over Galveston Ball, and Manvel over Texas City.

Game 3 Lake at Fort Bend Marshall

Game 2 - Dobie at Lake

The Falcons defeated the Dobie Longhorns 66-54 in a hard fought battle Saturday afternoon. With only one game under their belt, the Falcons faced a formidable opponent with a 6-1 record. It was a close game the entire time. Despite lopsided foul calls in the first half (10-3), Lake was able to maintain the lead throughout the first half after jumping out to an early lead. By the way, Dobie went almost 10 minutes of play without a foul being called on them.

Late in the game the lead bounced back and forth with Lake holding on by a narrow margin most of the time. Lake's superior team play and excellent outside shooting supplemented by 6'4" freshman Jeremiah Maldonado having a good day down low made it a fun game to watch.

Speaking of excellent outside shooting - I believe over 2/3 of the Lake squad hit 3 pointers in the contest but I will have to check my facts on that one.

Game 1 - at Houston Lamar

Nov 17, Game 1  - In the season opener Clear Lake was defeated by host Houston Lamar (68-60) in a closely fought battle. Always strong in basketball, Lamar is considered one of the strongest teams in District 20 this season and has two very good D1 post players and a very well rounded team. Lake played very well against a noticeably formidable opponent.  Clear Lake shot 9 of 24 from beyond the arc and 7 of 9 (77.8%) from the free throw line. Only two Lake players shot free throws in the game.
