Benjetta West called meeting to order at 6:30pm at Krueger Field House. She welcomed everyone to the meeting and introduced the Board and Don Wilkerson. Don explained his role. He is not a Booster Club member but is a long time, very large supporter of the Lake Boys Basketball Program. He serves as an advisor to the Booster Club to help with continuity from year to year.
Betty Squyres discussed the Homecoming Parade: Coaches will be handing out Basketball Jerseys to all the boys in the basketball class to wear in the parade. The jerseys need to be washed and returned on Thursday, October 13th. Volunteers will be decorating the floats at 5:00pm at Falcon Pass Elementary. Please come and help if you can. The boys will need to be there no later than 5:45pm and should bring candy to throw. No hard candy or large lollipops.
3 on 3 Tournament sponsored by clearlakefalconhoops.com
Benjetta discussed the 3 on 3 Tournament on Saturday, October 22nd. Registration will be at 8:30-10:00am with games starting at 10am. Flyers have been sent to all schools, CLBB has copies. The time for registration has changed from the flyer so all the schools to which flyers were sent must be notified. Coach Penders said all basketball boys have to participate. We will need a lot of volunteers. Volunteers should use the signup sheets. Everyone is eligible to play, girls, adults and co-ed teams. Kate Skol will send out an email asking for volunteers. No students are allowed to work the concession stand. All participates will receive t-shirts and first place teams in each division will receive pendants (Coach Penders will order.) Don explained this tournament is not a Booster Club fundraiser. This is a tournament sponsored by clearlakefalconhoops.com and he donates all proceeds to the Booster Club.
Kate Skol discussed season sponsorships: We have 2 Gold, 2 Silver, and 1 Bronze. Lisa Dillon asks how to send in ads. Kate needs it electronically. The deadline for Sponsors is November 1, 2011. All sponsors in by this date will be recognized in every home game program. We will still accept sponsors after that date but there might be a delay before their ad appears in the programs.
We would like for everyone to join the Booster Club. Coach Penders stated money raised by the Booster Club helps feed the players at non CCISD away games, purchase new uniforms, helps with travel expenses for out-of-town tournament, helps purchase equipment for the weight room, and the banquet (these are the major items but there are others as well).
Coach Penders thanked everyone for supporting the Varsity in the tournament last weekend at Yates HS. We have no responsibility in the District’s Carlisle-Krueger Classic tournament this year. They rotate a year off between the schools and this year Lake is off.

Coach Penders said for the boys to stay on top of their grades. Practice will start on October 26th every day after school and Saturdays at 8:00am. Freshmen may have practice before school at 5:45am while football is still underway, but that has not been set yet. All teams will have either practice and or games during Thanksgiving and Christmas Break. All players will be off December 22 -26th. Varsity will travel on December 26th for the Westlake HS Tournament in Austin. Freshmen B and Sophomore team schedules are still in the planning stage.
Varsity will attend tutorials. Freshmen will never be told they cannot go to tutorials.
Freshmen will tryout November 4th & 5th. Final cuts will be done on Saturday, November 5th.
Benjetta West introduced Marla Lewis who is chairman for the banquet. She will be asking for volunteers at a later date.
Coach Penders introduced Trisha Totten, her daughter is the Director of Basketball Operations for the team. He said the girls do a great job with the team.
Benjetta announced the November Booster Club meeting has been changed to Monday, November 7th at Double Dave’s. This will be our “Meet the Coaches” event.
