"Developing the young players of our community." REBELS SWEEP THE BUZZ (6/25) Without 4 starters in the line-up, the Rebels still managed to win 12-0 and 8-5 on Wednesday evening. Game 1 starter Daniel Clement allowed just 2 hits while striking out 9. Cam Newmans, Jonathon Guthrie, Jake Relihan, Justin McClellan, Zack Harper, and Lee Chancey had hits. Jake Relihan, making his pitching debut, pitched well in game 2. Newmans, Guthrie(3 for 3), McClellan, and Harper led the way offensively. REBELS SWEEP AGAIN (6/23) Atkinson won game #1 15-4 behind the pitching of Jonathon Guthrie and Colt Day. Guthrie went 4 innings and struck out 8. At the plate the Rebels were led by: Daniel Clement (2-2, 3RBI), Cam Newmans (2-3, RBI), and Ryan Mason (2-4, 2RBI). Guthrie, Day, Justin McClellan, Lee Chancey, and Garrett White all added hits. Atkinson won game #2 in 3 innings by the score of 12-2. Justin McClellan picked up the win on the mound. The leading hitters were: Newmans (2-2, 3RBI), and Mason (2-3, 3RBI). Day, Chancey, and Zack Harper added hits. REBELS SWEEP AT PIERCE COUNTY (6/19) Atkinson won 2 games in Blackshear on Thursday night. Cam Newmans allowed only 2 bloop singles in game 1 as the Rebels cruised to a 10-3 win. Jonathon Guthrie was the leading hitter going 2-3. Newmans, Jake Relihan, Justin McClellan, and Garrett White each added hits. Clint Sheffield and Keegan Wilkinson each added runs. Ryan Mason won game 2 in relief. Mason pitched 4 innings of 1 hit ball to secure the 5-4 victory. Guthrie, Mason, McClellan, and Wilkinson all had hits. Sheffield, Relihan, and Guthrie scored runs. REBELS SPLIT WITH WARE MAGNET (6/13) Atkinson won game 1 by the score of 13-0. 8th grader Daniel Clement pitched a complete game 3 hitter for the win. Magnet's starter Joseph Hayman lasted only 1 inning. The Rebels pounded out 12 hits in the game. Ryan Mason was 3-3, Cam Newmans 2-4, Justin McClellan 2-4. Ware Magnet won the second game 5-1 behind the pitching of Ware County High junior Liston Carter. 8th grader Colt Day took the loss for the Rebels. Cam Newmans and Jake Relihan had hits for Atkinson. It is good to see our 13 & 14 year olds like Colt Day, Daniel Clement, Sean Burch, Zane Nugent, Timmy Wood, and Aaron Cothran playing well on this level this summer! Next week the Rebels will welcome the return of All-Region 1A player Jonathon Guthrie to the line-up after missing both the Aucilla DH and the Ware DH while on vacation. REBELS SPLIT WITH AUCILLA (6/12) Game 1 Thursday afternoon featured the aces from their school's 2003 varsity season in Atkinson's Cam Newmans and Aucilla's David Sherrod. The first time the Rebels faced Sherrod this summer he 1-hit ATCO, but this time the Rebels collected 10 hits and won 11-2. Cam Newmans was 2-2, Jake Relihan was 2-2, and Justin McClellan was 3-3. Ryan Mason, Keegan Wilkinson, and Colt Day added hits as well. Aucilla took game 2 by the score of 3-1. Ryan Mason took the loss on the mound for the Rebels. Justin McClellan continued his hot hitting by going 2-2. On the day, Aucilla was led by David Sherrod (2-5 with a HR), T. Sherrod (2-4), Boyd (1-5), and Gunnels (2-6). REBELS SWEEP PIERCE (6/10) The Rebels swept a double-header with Pierce County on Tuesday afternoon in Pearson by the scores of 4-0 and 7-3. In game 1, Keegan Wilkinson pitched a complete game 1-hitter. At the plate, Cam Newmans was 2-2 (2 dbl, 1BB, 2R), Jonathon Guthrie was 1-2 (1 dbl, 3 RBI, 1BB), Keegan Wilkinson was 1-2 (1 dbl, 1R), and Colt Day was 1-2. Garrett White also scored a run. In game 2, Jonathon Guthrie picked up the win. Guthrie got every out on the hill except the last when Cam Newmans came in to strikeout the final hitter. Offensively in game 2, Ryan Mason was 2-2 (1 dbl, 2 RBI, 2R), Daniel Clement was 2-2 (1 dbl, 1 RBI), Cam Newmans was 1-2(RBI, R), and Jonathon Guthrie was 1-2. Chaz Wood, Zack Harper, Zane Nugent, and Jake Relihan scored runs also. Unfortunately, Chaz Wood suffered a broken leg at the end of game 2. CHAZ, YOU ARE IN OUR PRAYERS! REBELS SWEEP WARE MAGNET @SOUTH GEORGIA COLLEGE (6/5) Scores were 20-7 and 6-1. REBELS DROP 2 TO JEFF DAVIS @SOUTH GEORGIA COLLEGE (5/29) Scores were 5-4 and 6-2. REBELS @AUCILLA (5/27) Scores were 1-0 and 4-4.
