Senators Sweep Twin Bill From A's, Move to 5-1

Posted by N Frese on Jun 04 2006 at 05:00PM PDT
The Senators got excellent pitching from Bill Alvaro, Frank Rose, and Gene Michalski, and some timely offense from Ken Bevenour and Jim Toth as they swept past the Marlton Athletics by scores of 9-5 and 8-0 at Notre Dame High School. Though they haven't played the best of baseball on a weekly basis, the Senators 2006 record stands at an impressive 5-1. The Senators were without Dale Amos, John DiPietro and Jim McAllister, and got even more short-handed when Rich Kulikowski and Rick Amos both suffered muscle pulls in the second game. But the Nats hit and fielded enough to complete the sweep. Next week, the Senators travel back to Wesley Bishop for a revenge game against the Moorestown Marlins, who edged the Nats by a single run a few weeks ago in an 8-inning contest shortened by the time limit. John DiPietro will take the hill. I already know Miles Reader will not be there, but I am expecting everyone else -- health permitting, of course. Here is the tentative lineup, subject to change based upon player availability and the whims of the manager: 1. Alessandrini-CF
2. Lawrence-SS
3. D. Amos-LF
4. Izzi-1B
5. Bevenour-RF
6. McAlliser-3B
7. Toth-EH
8. Frese-EH
9. R. Amos-C
10. Rose-EH
11. Trotman-2B
We hit Thursday night at 6:15 at varsity cage.
