Posted by Kevin Jarrett on May 26 2006 at 05:00PM PDT
On Saturday - Sunday, May 27th-28th, 2006, The event will be held at Eldorado Park in North Las Vegas, Nevada. The Seventh Annual Gasoline Alley’s Birthday Bash is being expanded to a two day event, starting with a kick-off party at the Cannery Casino & Hotel on Saturday, May 27th, 2006, followed by being “On The Grass” once again at Eldorado Park on Sunday, May 28th, 2006. Fund raising techniques for this event consist of selling drawing tickets for contributed item/services, participant registration fees, donations, and vendor fees. On Saturday, May 27th, 2006, we will hold a HUGE kick-off party at the Cannery Casino & Hotel, which includes special parking for participants, live bands throughout the day, great vendors, trophies, and of course the incredible Cannery Casino & Hotel street rod friendly hospitality! On Sunday, May 28th, 2006, our event will conclude at Eldorado Park in North Las Vegas, Nevada, the park we have utilized for the last five years. Over the last five years, this event has grown from a birthday celebration for a few good friends to one of the primer street rod events in Southern Nevada . In 2005, we anticipate over 400 cars on the grass, with approximately 2,000-3,000 people in attendance. Historically, moderate temperatures and mild breezes make for a perfect day to stroll past row after row of beautiful street rods, compare “war stories” from previous street rod events, and soak up some sunshine. Legendary drag racing artist Kenny Youngblood designed our event logo, event poster, and will also be in attendance during the event. In addition to the “goodie bag” provided to the first 400 participants entering their vehicle, the first 250 children receive their own special event bag. These children also receive a drawing ticket for a special series of drawings held throughout the day. To enhance enjoyment of the day’s events by both young and old, a wide variety of entertainment is being confirmed. Examples include Shriner clowns, “Going for the Gold” gymnastics exhibitions, Airborne Ranger Monster Truck display, and “Geoffrey the Giraffe” from Toys R Us. Classic 50s/60s and rock tunes will be pumped throughout the park, with foodstuffs and merchandise vendors spread around the park perimeter to satisfy culinary tastes as well as artistic and those ”gotta have” purchases.
