Dusters Finish Fourth @ NFSA Nationals !!

Posted by mark lindsay on Jul 30 2005 at 05:00PM PDT
The Duster ladies traveled to Gulfport, MS  for the NFSA 12-u Nationals.  The Dusters finished Fourth in the final standings.

It was a great week of ball playing for the girls. We started our pool play against the Arkansas Ruff-Necks (District and State Champs) and the Dusters won 7-4. The Dusters second game was against the Collierville Dragons from Tennessee.  The Dusters took that game with a 9-0 win. The last pool game was against the very talented Elgin Express from Texas. We did not pull that one out in a close game losing 1-0.

The bracket got started with  the La Porte Naturals, which is another very talented second year team.  The Dusters pulled that game out in a close 1-0 win in the bottom of the seventh inning.  The Dusters went to face the Jackson Spirit from Tennessee (District and State Champs) in the second bracket game.  The Spirit was a another strong second year team with some big sticks in the lineup.  The Dusters pulled off a close 4-3 win.  The next Duster game was against the Louisiana Cajun Extreme.  The Dusters fell to their first loss in bracket play.  We came out flat, got behind early, and just could not put anything together.  I know if we would have faced them again it would have been different.  As the Dusters fell into the losers bracket and  faced the Naturals again, it was another close game with the Dusters pulling out a 4-3 win in ITB.  That win guaranteed the Duster girls a fourth place finish with hardware.  The next game was against the Hurricanes from Louisiana and the girls hit the ball hard but the great defense of the Hurricanes knocked us out of the tournament with a 2-0 loss.  The week was filled with rain delays and a lot of waiting between games but it was a good tournament and we had fun.  Dusters, thanks for a great season!image
