The Cougars opened the season with a 3-0 win over Division 3 Rival Otay Ranch at the Otay Ranch Stadium. LISA MIX opened the scoring early in the 1st half, and the Cougars went into halftime with a 1-0 lead. In the second half, SARAH YOUNG placed a beautiful corner kick into the box, where BECCA SANDERS headed the ball deep into the net. Freshman EMILY MONFORT added a late goal, by heading LISA MIX's long throw in for her first goal of her high school career. But the difference in the game was the Cougar defense and the marking of Otay Ranch's top scorer BRITNEY BENNETT by JANEL SANCHEZ and SUZANNE MACNAUGHTON. JANEL and SUZANNE completely blanketed last years top scorer. CAPTAIN BECCA SANDERS, SARAH YOUNG, and AMANDA YOUNG anchored the defense, and Freshman CARMEN URIBE and SUMMER BLAND registered the first shutout of their high school careers. AWESOME!
JV opened their season with a dominating 13-0 win over Otay Ranch. Goals came fast and often! AMANDA PERUCHITI scored a hat-trick (3 goals), CECILY CARRILLO had 2 goals, and adding 1 goal each were KELSEY EASTERLY, AMY HENDEL, ALY TIMMERMAN, CHELSEA JENNER, HILLARY GASTRICH, GILLIAN HUGHES, ALISON ARAGON, and STELLO MUNRON. WOW!!!!!!!!!
