Sentinels Win- Jeffrey Michalenka Memorial Game

Posted by Joseph Contreras on Oct 15 2006 at 05:00PM PDT
The Woonsocket Sentinels played their final 2006 Season game on October 15th @ 2PM and came away w/ a heart pumping victory. The North Attleboro Renegades (6-3) had taken over the Sentinels (4-5) lead with a little over a minute left in the game. Under Field General/Quarterback Mike Kelley, the "Outstanding Offense" marched down the field and put the Sents in a scoring opportunity. With 6 seconds left on the clock, a pass interference call went against the Gades as WR, Shane Cheltenham was making his way into the End-Zone for a TD to win the game. Since the game can not end on a defensive penalty, the Sents were given 1 more chance to win the game. So with NO time in regulation, M. Kelley dropped back and was given the time by his offensive line and Wide-Receivers to throw a perfect pass to Woonsocket Native, J. Lynch #82 in the End-Zone for the game ending Touchdown. Sents win 15-13. A great end to a great season and an emotional win for Jeff's entire Family!!! God Bless you all. The Sentinels dedicated this game as a memorial to Woonsocket born Jeffrey Michalenka who had passed suddenly on June 13, 2006. In addition to the game, there will be special memorial t-shirts available. The memorial t-shirts were $10.00 each, with the proceeds being benefiting The United Martial Arts Academy (Jeffrey Michalenka Memorial Scholarship) Mens: M, L, XL, XXL Juniors sizes only womens: M only (Large already sold out) (there are very few of these) NBC 10 provided media coverage for memorial game. A special thanks to them! image
