Posted by Mark Dietz on May 24 2006 at 05:00PM PDT
Under the lights of Crosley Field, the Cobalts beat the Bulls 7-4 behind Keith Becker's 8 strikeouts, 0 runs, in 4 innings. Brian Akers gets the Save with two scorless ininngs of work as well as 2 hits, 2 runs, and 2 RBIs. But the story of the night was the outstanding left field play of one Frank Longshanks Arnold..."Shanks" usually lives behind the plate but Wednesday night he took his mit, his poor eyesight, and his rabbits foot out to left field and dazzled the Bulls hitters with several great catches. Cobalts now stand at 5-0 going into the Battle of the Banks Tournament in Louisville, KY. You can bet the studs from the Commonwealth are loooking to beat-up the Buckeye Boys from Natti in the 2 day round robin being played at Derby City...First test of the combined Cobalt Squad featuring both young and slightly "mature" roster players. Sunday: vs. Louisville Stallions 2:00pm at Derby City, Second Game also versus Stallions immediately following Monday: Tradewater Pirates 12noon followed by West KY Rattlers at Derby Cityimage
