Stranding Runners Leads to Split Decision

Posted by Mark Dietz on May 08 2004 at 05:00PM PDT
The Cobalts went "Gilligan" on themselves by stranding 7 base runners in 3 critical innings thus falling to the Cleveland Bulls 6-3. Shannon Morgan, the Cobalt starter, was again strong in 4 innings and deserved a better fate. Shane Schirmer pitched well in relief. In Game 2 the Cobalts came back to give Jimmy Mullinex his first Cobalt victory by beating the Dayton Braves 12-8. Strong middle relief from Jason Frisch and a solid offensive day from Aaron Schweitzer and Steve Stigler helped secure the win.
