Margo Christie recipient of Susan McEachern Memorial Award

Margo Christie, the volunteer fundraising chairperson and a support operations worker for the Sydney Sooners, is the 2009 recipient of the Susan McEachern Memorial Award, presented by the Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League annually to its volunteer of the year.
Christie has been an executive member of the Sooners for five years, and spends endless hours from April through to September handling key components of the team's operations.
"Margo is a person you can call upon to help at any time when time and energy is required to get anything done," said Sooners coach and general manager Jim (Rico) McEachern.
"She is a prime example of the type of unassuming volunteer support that is required to ensure the ball club operates from year to year. She is a most fitting recipient of this special award, and our team is very thankful for her support and that of all our valuable volunteers."
The Susan McEachern Memorial Award was established in 1995 in memory of the volunteer with the Sydney Sooners and Little League baseball in Sydney, who passed away in February of that year. The award is presented each year "to that volunteer behind the scenes and off the field who makes a significant contribution to the sport of baseball and the Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League."
