The Dartmouth Moosehead Dry lost 9-7 to Red Deer, Alta., then beat the Brandon Marlins 7-4 to sit with a 2-1 record after two days at the Canadian senior championship tournament in Brandon, Man.
Dartmouth plays Windsor, Ont., on Saturday afternoon, with the winner assured of first place in their pool and a bye into Sunday's semifinals.
