NSSBL Rules on Washington

Posted by Jody Jewers on Aug 26 2001 at 05:00PM PDT
The Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League's directors and executive held a conference call last night, August 27th, to come to a decision on the ramifications of the Dartmouth Moosehead Dry's use of an inelligible player. The Kentville Wildcats have been awarded a victory in their game on July 29th against Dartmouth in which the Dry had won 9-5. According to the NSSBL constitution, Dartmouth could have also been fined but it was decided that Dartmouth had not intended to use an inelligible player and believed that, albeit unofficial and unsanctioned, they had permission from Baseball Nova Scotia to add Jay Washington to their roster for this season. The Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League requires no direction and will take no direction from Baseball Nova Scotia and as the standings reflect, the playoffs will open this weekend with the Truro Bearcats opening up their playoff round in Halifax against the Pelham Electric Blues at the Wanderers' Grounds Friday, August 31 at 7:30pm. The Kentville Wildcats will begin their defence of their championship last year against the Dartmouth Moosehead Dry, Saturday September 1st at 7:30pm in Kentville.
