Following are the Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League award winners for the 2009 season. Results are based on votes cast by the member teams. Voting was compiled by NSSBL statistician Burton Russell.

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER -- Greg West, Dartmouth Moosehead Dry.

** League batting champion with a .451 average. League leader in hits (41). Finished in the top five in runs scored (fourth with 25), RBI (fifth with 18) and home runs (tied for second with 4). It is his first MVP award. It's the third straight year the award has gone to a Dartmouth player (Chris Head in 2008, Joel Irvine in 2007).

GARY MacDONALD MEMORIAL AWARD (most player-of-the-game nominations) -- Beau Chiasson, Sydney Sooners.

** Finished second in the league with a .447 batting average. Tied for second in hits (34) and doubles (8), and finished third in stolen bases (11).

COACH OF THE YEAR -- Jeff Lockhart, Kentville Wildcats.

** Finished fourth in the league and qualified for playoffs with an 11-13 record.

Third base -- Joel Irvine, Dartmouth Moosehead Dry (fifth in batting (.374), league leader in RBI (25) and doubles (9), tied for second in hits (34) and runs scored (27))

Outfield -- Mike Lockhart, Kentville Wildcats (third in batting (.386), tied for second in hits (34), third in RBI (21))

Left-handed pitcher -- Barrett Bellefontaine, Halifax Pelham Canadians (tied for most wins (5), third in winning percentage (5-2, .714), third in innings pitched (56.1), third in strikeouts (48))

Catcher -- Randy Stewart, Dartmouth Moosehead Dry (.333 batting average)
