2014 NSSBL ALL-STARS and AWARD WINNERS

 

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER: John Chapman T In addition to his batting achievements mentioned earlier, Chapman also placed among the leaders in several pitching categories. He was fifth in winning percentage with a 7-5 record. He was tied for third in wins with 7 and was second in saves with 2.  He was sixth in the ERA department with 2.57 and was seventh-best in Ks with 41.  His 77 innings pitched was second-best in the league. 

Gary MacDonald Memorial Gold Bat and Gold Glove Award for most player of the game selections: John Chapman Truro.    

CATCHER: Matt Denney S Third in batting with a .390 average. Second in RBIs with 28. Tied for third in home runs with 4. Sixth in hits and runs scored with39 and 22 respectively. 

FIRST BASE: Greg West D Tenth in batting with a .327 average. Third in RBIs with 26. 

SECOND BASE: Adam Lucas H Eighth in batting with a.360 average. Leader in doubles with 12. Placed number eight in RBIs with 22.   

THIRD BASE:  John Chapman T League’s batting champion with a .441 average. Tops in RBIs with 31.  Second in hits with 45.  Tied for fifth in doubles with 9.  Sixth in stolen bases with 16.   

SHORTSTOP: Matt Doudelet D Ninth in batting with a .337 average. 

DESIGNATED HITTTER: Darren Doucette D Batting average: 328.   Led the league in home runs with 7.Placed ninth in RBIs with 21.   

LHP: Cameron Marling D The league leader in winning percentage with an 8-0 record. Second in wins with 8 and second in the Ks with 84.  Fifth- best among the ERA leaders with a 2.49 mark.  Third in innings pitched with 76.   

RHP: Matt MacDonald D He posted a second –best winning percentage with a 7-1 record. Tied for third in wins with 7.  Led the loop in Ks with 87.  Tops in the ERA department with a 1.55 mark.  Fifth in innings pitched with 63.2.   

COACH –OF-THE-YEAR:  (TIE) Bob Gillis D and John Chapman T.    Gillis led Dartmouth to a first –place finish with a 22-6 record.  Chapman guided the Bearcats to a second-place finish with a 15-13 mark. 

OUTFIELDERS:  Chris Head D Second in batting with an average of .409.  He was league leader in hits, runs scored and stolen bases with respective numbers of 52, 37 and 27.  Fifth in RBIs with 24. Tied for fifth in doubles with 9.                             

 Jake Pelham H Fifth among batting leaders with a .378 average. Tied for third in doubles with 10. Sixth in RBIs with 23.                             

Mark Phillips D Sixth in batting with a .375 average.  Fourth in hits with 42.  Third in runs scored with 27.  Second in doubles with 11.  Tied for third in home runs with 4.
