Dartmouth retains title

The Dartmouth Moosehead Dry are the 2005 Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League champions. Dartmouth defeated the Truro Bearcats 2-0 in the seventh and deciding game of the league championship series tonight in front of about 600 fans at Beazley Field in Dartmouth. Winning pitcher Jason Bailey threw a complete-game two-hitter and struck out nine. Robert Gillis stroked an RBI-single in the third inning and Darren Doucette belted a mammoth solo homer in the fourth to account for the scoring. Jeff Chisholm took the loss, giving up just four hits in seven innings. Chisholm and Kevin Matheson singled for the Bearcats. The home team won every game in this series. It's the third NSSBL title in a row for Dartmouth, and the Dry's 12th in the last 16 seasons.
