Canadians complete sweep, win first NSSBL title in 16 years
Congratulations to the Halifax Pelham Canadians, who defeated the Kentville Wildcats 1-0 tonight at Memorial Park in Kentville for their eighth straight playoff victory and their first NSSBL crown since 1992, sweeping the best-of-seven championship series in four games.
Playoff MVP Barrett Bellefontaine pitched a masterful one-hit complete-game shutout for Halifax, which plated the game's lone run on an Adam Lucas sacrifice fly in the eighth inning.
Halifax will represent the league at the 2009 Canadian senior baseball championship, joining tournament host Dartmouth Moosehead Dry.
