The Halifax Pelham Molson Canadians got a king sized performance from righty, Craig Field, and tied the best of 7 NSSBL Championship Series at one game apiece as they shutout the Sydney Sooners on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Mainland Common, 4-0. Field was in command throughout and allowed only 4 harmless singles, however, when the Sooners were able to string a few base runners together, the Canadians' defense turned a pair of timely double plays to erase the threat. Brandon Devlin reached base in all four ABs but belted an RBI triple to score the games first run and later added a single. Leftfielder, Paul Davie, singled twice with an RBI, Adam Lucas chipped in a double and RBI, while Shawn Walsh laced a double. Sydney lefthander, Nate Brewer was also very good as the game stood at 2-0 into the eighth inning, but Devlin and Jake Pelham each singled to begin the frame. Shawn Peverill drew a walk to load the bases before Adam Lucas drew a hard-earned walk to score the third run. Righthander, Anthony Ianetti entered, and retired the next two batters when Davie singled in Jake Pelham with the final run. Games 3, 4 and 5 are slated for Sydney next weekend.
