Dartmouth in the win column
The Dartmouth Moosehead Dry are still in the race after a dramatic 5-2 victory over the Chatham Ironmen of New Brunswick in nine innings this morning at Beazley Field in the completion of a game suspended Friday night by fog at the Canadian senior baseball championship.
Darren Doucette drilled a three-run homer in the top of the ninth to snap a 2-2 tie, and Matt McDonald threw a complete-game seven-hitter, fanning eight on 149 pitches. Chatham's J-F Neveau was heroic in defeat, allowing 10 hits while striking out 14 and tossing 145 pitches.
Dartmouth has to beat the Brandon Marlins of Manitoba this afternoon to remain in the hunt for a playoff berth. The game is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. EastLink will air the game live.
