Posted by Jody Jewers on Aug 22 2008 at 05:00PM PDT

The Dartmouth Moosehead Dry split a pair of games today to finish round-robin play at the Canadian senior baseball championship in Brandon, Man., with a 3-1 record and advance to Sunday's playoffs.

Dartmouth dropped an 11-2 decision to B.C. in an afternoon contest. Craig Langille was the losing pitcher. Darren Doucette, Greg West and Craig MacDonald had a hit apiece for the Dry.

The Dry rebounded to edge Ontario 2 3-2 tonight, scoring the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Joel Irvine had two of Dartmouth's five hits, and Shain Beaudreau got the win in relief of starter Craig Higgins, a pickup from the Truro Bearcats.

Dartmouth finished in second place in its pool, and will take on Alberta in a quarterfinal matchup Sunday at 11 a.m. Atlantic time. The winner advances to play Quebec in a 2 p.m. semifinal. The bronze-medal game is scheduled for 6 p.m., and the gold-medal game at 9 p.m.
