Playoff positions still up for grabs

Posted by Jody Jewers on Sep 01 2006 at 05:00PM PDT
The Halifax Pelham Canadians managed a split of a doubleheader today, losing 9-7 to the Dartmouth Moosehead Dry in the afternoon before rebounding to edge the Halifax Pelham Canadians 7-6 in 11 innings in the nightcap. Dartmouth can tie Kentville for first place with a win Sunday at home to Truro, and would finish first based on a 5-1 head-to-head record with the Wildcats. A Bearcats win means Dartmouth finishes second and Truro fourth. If Dartmouth wins Sunday and Halifax beats Sackville on Monday, Halifax and Truro will finish tied for the fourth and final playoff berth. A one-game playoff would be held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., with Truro as the site because Truro won the season series with Halifax 4-2. Wednesday would be the back-up date if the playoff game is rained out Tuesday.
