Posted by Ray Flaherty on Oct 12 2000 at 01:08PM PDT
Central's Raiders were unlucky and Andover earned a hard fought 2-1 win at Andover. Rumor has it that this was Coach Amundsen's 300th victory. Andover scored midway thru the first half when Josh Gagnon deflected a goal in off a corner kick. The referees stated it was an own goal but that he was closest to it. Central tied it up when Steve Perry put one past Dan Bellacqua ti tie ist at the 38 minute mark of the first half. Joe Mead was given the assist on the Perry goal. In a back and forth second half that saw both teams get great chances to score Andover was able to break out and score at the 20 minute mark when Josh Gagnon just beat John McGinness to his left. Central is now 8-2 in the MVC and 10-3-1 overall. With this win Andover is now 5-3-2 in the MVC. Central plays Malden Catholic on Saturday at 2 PM at Greater Lawrence Tech. image
