Raiders Bow Out of North 2-1 in Shootout

Posted by Ray Flaherty on Nov 10 2000 at 04:00PM PST
This has become the toughest article I have had to write. After what can only be called a record breaking and awesome season the Central Raiders lost to Framingham 2-1 in a shootout on Wednesday, November 8th. After a scoreless first half that saw some exciting action up and down the field Central broke on top on a nice pass from Jeff Gannon to the head of Joe Mead at the 9 minute mark of the second half. Four minutes later Framingham scored from 35 yards out to even the score at 1-1. The game ended that way after regulation, and after two ten minutes sudden victory periods it was still tied. In what can only be called the worst way to end a game the teams went to a shootout. Central did not score on their three chances but Framingham scored once to give them the OT victory 2-1. Thank you everyone for being so involved, concerned, and helpful during this great season, and great it was! We gained our first ever MVC Title, although our short run in the tournament has tempered that title, we should be very proud of what no other team in the 14 years of the program accomplished...a banner will rise in our gym....I am proud of all of you. Thanks Coach Eiler, Coach D'Agata(yeah you get a piece of this too),Coach Young, and Coach D'Ascensio your hard work is paying off in great ways. Now it is time to put our season to bed...to let it rise again next August, and to dream great things! Thanks, Coach Fimage
