Level the Playing Field Fundraiser: Fall 2009

Posted by Lois Sakany on Jul 02 2009 at 05:00PM PDT

Dear Friend of the New York Gothams:

If you are interested in supporting the NY Gothams with a donation, you can make a secure donation right now by credit card or Paypal or you can send a check made out to NY Gothams Youth Baseball (Mail to NY Gothams President, Ira Persky, 233 West 99th Street, Apt. 10E, New York, NY, 10025). All donations are tax deductable.

The funds we raise are used to keep the NY Gothams competitive with other travel organizations and to offer scholarships to talented players who require financial assistance.  Since its inception the organization has been committed to providing its players a high caliber travel baseball experience, which includes travel to national tournaments, year-round facilities and professional coaching. As part of its mission, the NY Gothams feel strongly about the importance of extending opportunities to all motivated players, whatever their background or income.

Because school is such a big part of any player’s success, whether he has dreams of a major league career or wants to play ball in college, we added an educational component to the program, providing tutoring during winter workouts, with plans to offer low-cost SAT prep classes.

Last year, our program’s value was recognized by Major League Baseball, which provided a $10,000 grant to help cover the cost of scholarship players.

We welcome donations of every size, but to provide some guidance the cost for a single player's participation for the summer season is approximately $2,000. Many donors have chosen to sponsor the costs of a player in whole or in part. Families who donate $3,000 will receive a NY Gothams hoodie, windbreaker and cap; $1500, a jacket or hoodie and a cap; $500, a tee shirt and a cap, and $250 a baseball cap.

If you have any questions contact contact Lois Sakany, Director of Fundraising.

Thanks very much for your consideration.

Go Gothams!
