Chili Peppers

 A great weekend for softball with great weather in the forcast.  Our first tournament for 2008 and we showed we were not ready in the first inning of the first game.  Three of our first 4 batters made outs and we fell behind 6-1 after two innings to a good Blue Springs Bombers team.  But we fought back and took a 8-7 lead and held on for a 10-8 win.  Second Pool game we started better and ended better and beat another Blue Springs team(SWAT) 16-6.    Our 3rd pool game against another Blue Springs team (Sharks) went great as we hit great and played great defense and won 18-0.  We took the one seed for bracket play and the first game was against the Sharks but this time they were ready to play and kept the game close untill we scored a bunch late and won 17-9.   Championship game put as against the Bombers but this time we took the early lead and kept scoring while giving up  just a couple of runs each inning.  We pulled ahead and won 16-8 to become the 8U Champions.   For the tournament we scored 77 runs and gave up 31 (17 came in the 1st innings of the games, in the other 11 innings of the tournament we gave up 14 runs).  We made several good plays in the field and everyone was swinging a good bat.  Great job girls.
