Chili Peppers

Pool Play: Our first pool play game was against the Landsharks. We jumped to an early 9-0 lead and cruised to a 12-5 win. In the second pool game we took on a very good Bulldawgs team. With both teams showing their defense it was a 3-3 game after 2 innings. Then they took a 8-7 lead and we could not cross the plate again and lost 7-10. The third pool play game matched us against the Hot Stix. We came out smoking and run spread them after 3 innings, winning 16-4. Bracket Play: We got the second seed and recieved a first round bye. In the second round we took on the Warriors and jumped all over them with some great hitting, 13-3 after 2 innings. Then we messed around and let the score get closer than the game seemed but won 19-16. Not one girl on our team had a strikeout. In the Championship game we got the Hot Stix who was on their third game of the day. They came out and got on us 10-4 after 2 innings. Then our defense came to life and we held them to 1 run in the last 3 innings. Our problem was they played great defense and kept us from winning by holding on for a 8-11 win. Their pitcher was kept busy by making 8 outs and was helped by the first baseman who got 3 putouts by herself. Once again we had no one strikeout so we put the ball in play, just to the wrong girl. We were probally the youngest team out there with 6 7 year olds and 2 6 year olds. Very good job girls. What a wonderful round of tournaments we played.
