The MHS Cross Country Boosters 8th annual Reindeer Stampede 5K boasted another successful running with a record crowd of about 250 participants. Dover High grad Kevin Kemmerle won the race with a 16:57, while Danielle Riley of Lake Forest won the top female honors with a 20:51. The MHSCC Boosters Club, a collection of volunteer parents, alumni, and friends, help coordinate the event which usually occurs the first Saturday after Thanksgiving. BOYS END SKID WITH BIG WIN VERSUS CENTRAL

Andrew Meade sprinted to an 18:52 as the boys ended a 12-meet losing skid that dated back to the '03 season with a 22-39 defeat of Sussex Central Wednesday. The boys also nearly upset Polytech, but fell in a close one, 26-29. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Butterly led the way as the girls improved to 4-0 with wins over Polytech and Central. These runners earned career-best times: Brandon Morris, Kyle FitzPatrick, Travis White, Michael Stachecki, Morgan Sleva, Michael Schlegel, Brian Cisneros, Anthony Kramlich and Emmery Williams. These runners also added season-best times: Meade, Matt Esposito, George Kershaw, Matt Holloway, Logan Moreau, Trevor Jefferson, Jackie Creasey, Marissa McDonnell, Meredith Muskovich, Becky Clendaniel and Keskeda Pierre. Elizabeth Butterly placed eighth overall to score a medal to lead the varsity girls to a fifth-place finish at the Lake Forest Invitational Saturday. Jackie Creasey, Erica Godwin, Jody George, Marissa McDonnell, Meredith Muskovich and Becky Clendaniel closed out the varsity scorers, while Emmery Williams scored a season-best for the junior varsity. For the boys, George Kershaw scored his season-best to finish as the team's No. 2 runner behind senior Andrew Meade, while Travis White earned his best time as a varsity runner. Brandon Morris, Matt Esposito, Matt Holloway and Robert Fisher also finished in the varsity top seven. Erick Cisneros and Kyle Berry each added career-best times for the junior varsity. Jody George, Alicia Sanchez and Meredith Muskovich each ran her season-best time to close out the girls scorers. Emmery Williams and Keskeda Pierre each scored season-bests. For the boys who fell to Cape Henlopen and St. Thomas More, Andrew Meade led the way. George Kershaw scored his best race of the season as the team's No. 3 runner, while Trevor Jefferson, Travis White, Michael Stachecki, Will Gorney and Kyle Berry each scored his career best. BUTTERLY JUMPSTARTS TEAM AT RON POWELL

Elizabeth Butterly ran a 20:53 as runner-up in the Varsity A race to lead the girls to a fourth-place finish at the Ron Powell Memorial Saturday. Jackie Creasey, Erica Godwin, Becky Godwin, and Jody George each scored medals to round out the top 5 finishers. Becky and Erin Clendaniel also scored their first varsity finishes. Andrew Meade led the boys with a top finish while Matt Esposito, Brandon Morris, Matt Holloway, Kyle FitzPatrick, Logan Moreau and George Kershaw rounded out the varsity finishers. In all, 12 boys scored their career-best performances to open 2005: Morris, FitzPatrick, Ramon Silva, Alan Lane, Robert Fisher, Brian and Erick Cisneros, Anthony Kramlich, Garrett Jenkins, Morgan Sleva, Michael Schlegel and Dan Wheeler, who lopped off nearly seven minutes from his previous best!
