SSV: TIME FOR AN UPDATE

Posted by Czar Bloom on Jun 05 2004 at 05:00PM PDT
So, Ol' Bloomie did run the Chestertown Tea Party 5K in a solid 20:34 -- good enough for 13th out of nearly 240, but 5th overall in that new 30 and older age group. I came back a week later in the Spring into Motion (and face the WIND AND RAIN) 5K at Greenwood Mennonite to finish 5th overall (20:43) and 2nd in my age group behind Milford runner John Yanacek who I seem to be catching in age, but not in time. :) Nice work, John! Congrats to my wifey, Shelly, who also completed both races and continues to have her sights set on completing her first summer series. Better watch out, folks -- she's getting the running bug! :) Another big congrats goes out to my old middle school CC coach Baxter Smith who has put me away in the second half of each of the last two races. He went sub-20 at Greenwood! And . . . Lee Masser -- you're amazing, man!!! Special Sauce Insider sees Baxter's speedy son, Barrett running low 19s already this summer. He could only be scratching the surface as he heads into his freshman season as a Seaford Blue Jay later this summer.
