BACK IN THE 19s AT FATHERS DAY 5K

Posted by Czar Bloom on Jun 20 2004 at 05:00PM PDT
For the first time in Seashore Strider Series race, Ol' Bloomie broke the 20-barrier, running a 19:50 under beautiful, comfortable skies at the Father's Day 5K. The day proved decorated for Milford residents, John Yanacek, who took home his best time of the summer (20:10) en route to a win in the Clydesdale division. Not only did he get a Clydesdale-sized trophy, but he collected a nice sweatshirt and Superbagel (a big one-pounder!). And . . . Randy Fisher lopped off some time, cruising to a stellar 26:22, while his son, Robert, a MMSCCer, scored a third-place trophy. Congrats to Dan, Dan the Running Man Pennington who earned a personal-best 17:22 after running a 17:26 the day before. Special Sauce Insider saw Milford sup Doc Smith cheering on his MMS daughter, Sara, who broke 30 minutes nicely, and congrats goes out to Dover High alum Pat Boyle who won the entire race in 16:59. Seaford's Mitch Fryling (an '04 grad) led a host of other local high schoolers, including Tech's Mahood and Cape's Melendez.
