BUTTERLY, GODWIN RUN TO ALL-HENLOPEN HONORS

Elizabeth Butterly (20:37) finished runner-up to Lake's Danielle Riley by four seconds and senior captain Erica Godwin placed 15th as the girls placed fourth in the Henlopen Conference Championship Saturday at Killens Pond State Park. Just 13 points separated the Bucs from the meet champion Dover Senators. Besides Butterly and Godwin's All-Henlopen performances, Jackie Creasey and Jody George earned Honorable Mention all-conference, while Tahnisha Colson, Marissa McDonnell and Meredith Muskovich rounded out the varsity. For the boys, Brandon Morris ran a career-best 19:20 to lead the way, while Robert Fisher and Logan Moreau also ran career times to make the varsity top seven. Travis White, Matt Esposito, Anthony Kramlich and George Kershaw also made the varsity. Erick Cisneros, Garrett Jenkins, Kyle Berry and Keskeda Pierre each added career-best times for the junior varsity. The Bucs travel to Brandywine Creek State Park on Saturday for the state championships. The Milford girls run at 1:40 p.m., while the boys race at 3 p.m. In middle school action, sixth-grader Taiwan Savage Jr. ran a 14:29 on a 2.1-mile course to finish 12th. Cody Watson (16:12), Jimmy Cetner (17:35), Tyrone Taylor (18:41), Devon Schlegel (18:56), Jacob Richard (22:04) and Cody Dunleavey (22:07) also ran well for the Bucs. For the girls, Adrienne Foster (20:13) led the way, while Mirriam Miller (21:40), Ruby Hernandez (21:43) and Stephanie Chicas (23:53) ran well. Click on the above headline for more results.
