BUTTERLY-LED GIRLS SCORE BIG DAY IN SALISBURY

Freshman Elizabeth Butterly became the fifth fastest girl ever at MHS with a stellar 21:07 to lead the girls to a fourth-place finish out of 23 teams at the Tidewater Classic in Salisbury Wednesday. Meanwhile, Andrew Meade helped lead 10 guys to their career-best performances. Lindsay Kenton shattered a season-best to join Jackie Creasey and Erica Godwin in the 22s, while Marissa McDonnell and Tricia Gerken each ran in the 23s. Jessica FitzPatrick closed out the varsity, while Deshauna Purnell, Candice Young and Meredith Muskovich followed with great times. Becky Clendaniel also added her career-best. Matt Esposito, Trevor Jefferson, James Starnes, Andre Purnell, Logan Moreau, George Kershaw, Julius Davis, Brian Cisneros and Alex Ingram picked up bests for the boys.
