McDowell shuts out Baldwin !

ERIE - Special Report to Pa Hockey provided by McDowell Hockey The McDowell Trojans scored four goals in the first 5:15 of the game and went on to cruise past the Baldwin Highlanders by the score of 8 – 0 in a PIHL game played Wednesday night at the JMC Ice Arena. Eric Trapp scored the first of his two goals just 19 seconds into the game followed with a rebound goal by freshman Miles Gates just 50 seconds later for a quick 2 – 0 Trojan lead. McDowell wasn't finished just yet as freshman Ryan Presnar scored the first of his two goals, unassisted 3:26 into the period. The flurry of goals ended 5:15 into the period as Kaylan Rhoades rifled home a goal and pushed the Trojan lead to 4 – 0 after one period of play. Trapp’s second goal of the game off of a turnover just 10 seconds into the second period was followed by goals from Brian Hammel and Tony Michalak for a 7 – 0 advantage after two periods. Presnar’s second goal of the game midway through the third period accounted for the final score. McDowell goalie John Cleary turned away all 19 shots he faced as the Trojans outshot the Highlanders 41 – 19. McDowell improves their PIHL record to 3–2 (8-3-1 overall) while Baldwin falls to 1-2-1 in the league.
