USA Wrestling Officials Course

USA Wrestling Officials Association Maloney High School Sunday November 16 USA Wrestling- Ct will be offering a USWOA Certification course on Sunday November 16 at the Maloney High School in Meriden CT. Registration will begin at 9:00 am, the course runs four hours. There is no cost associated with this course. All USAWCT members or member hopefuls are encouraged to attend. This Certification Clinic is designed to 1) certify USWOA Officials to objectively officiate USA Wrestling CT Youth Tournaments 2) increase coaches and athletes knowledge of the current High School rules and practices. Successful completion of the USWOA-CT Course allows participants to officiate at state, regional, and national USA Wrestling events. To achieve certification prospects must attend a USA wrestling sanctioned USWOA Clinic, successfully pass an on-site examination and successfully demonstrate the skills conducive of a wrestling official. The exam will consist of forty true/false questions. Participants must receive an 80% or better grade on the test to be certified as a USWOA Official. This clinic will be conducted by Brian Reardon, USAW-CT Officials Director. Upon successful completion of the course and evaluations, assignments will be made to USAW-CT events. Officials will be compensated at such events in the sum of $15.00 per hour. When officials achieve USWOA Certification they receive the USA Wrestling billfold card to use when registering at USA Wrestling events. The USAW-CT Officials Certification Program serves as an important tool for wrestlers and officials to learn more about the most up to date ways to successfully teach and interpret wrestling. This is the first step for said individuals to better understand and appreciate the sport of amateur wrestling.
