X-DAY WRESTLING CAMP

Posted by Roger Moss on Jun 24 2011 at 05:00PM PDT

PRESENTED FOR THE 4TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR BY BERLIN WRESTLING PROGRAM

JUNE 27-29 AT Berlin High School (Patterson Way)

Registration begins at 8am and wrestling at 8:30am. The camp will conclude around 12:30pm where the campers should be picked up by a parent or guardian.

Cost: In town athletes: $100   Out of town athletes: $125. * Sibling discounts available upon requests.

The three day camp is going to focus on building and honing the wrestler’s physical and mental skills.  Wrestlers will be split into three levels which will give everyone an opportunity to learn and excel at their own pace.  Regardless of their current skill level, each wrestler can expect to learn both physical and mental techniques that will help them in competition.  Preparation and focus techniques will be covered, in addition to weight lifting techniques that will build their body into a wrestling machine.

Again this year there will be a plethora of talented camp counselors to assure each wrestler gets plenty of attention:

John Bennett (camp supervisor) John is a World Champion in freestyle style as well as a multiple time National Champion in both freestyle and Greco.  John currently serves as the associate head coach at Trinity College, and previously helped lead the Berlin High School (BHS) Redcoat’s to multiple state titles under Jim Day.

CJ McCormack (Camp Director) CJ is the current head coach at BHS.  He is a former high school and collegiate New England Place finisher as well as a grand national freestyle All American and a college Academic All American.  He is a 2003 graduate of Roger Williams University, where he served as an assistant coach for three years.

Cory Debias: Cory was a division three All American for the Hawks of Roger Williams University.  Before that he was a three year letter winner at Ryder University where he attended on a full-scholarship.  He was all conference and was elected into the RWU Hall of fame.  In high school, Cory wrestled to a 137-20 record and was the first ever two time district AA finalist and first ever four time qualifier.

Kyle Debias: Following in his brother’s footsteps, Kyle was a Pennsylvania all state wrestler with a record of 104-40.  He was one of the best recruits to ever sign with Roger Williams University.   Although he had an injury plagued college carrier, his freshman year he was all conference and placed third at the national qualifier.  He was a three year captain for the Hawks.

Robert Pizzuto: Robert is a NJ native who holds a high school record of 81-27. He was a 2x district champ and took 7th at the 1998 New Jersey state tournament. He went on to wrestler division one at Ryder University where he earned a full ride scholarship after impressing the coaching staff his freshman year. He was a three year conference place finisher.
