BOYS VARSITY SWIMMING, GIRLS VARSITY BASKETBALL · DEC 11 Boys and Girls Swimming and Diving vs. Warren Central

Posted by Ronald Williams on Dec 15 2020 at 06:02PM PST

SHS Swim and Dive team split the contest last night with Warren Central High School. The girls lost with a score of 69 to 99, while the boys won with a score of 93 to 72. The team combined for 13 career PRs, 13 season PRs, and 2 Golden Bear Top Ten swims. This meet has proven to be a jumping point for the Golden Bears in the past. While the career PR numbers typically drop at this meet due to a full month and a half plus of training Warren Central always brings out the grit and determination in the athletes. This meet is a battle year after year, with good races in every event from top to bottom. This year was no exception with more than half the event wins coming by 4 seconds or less. The girls’ 100 Freestyle had just a 1.37 second difference from 1st to 4th place. The Golden Bears proved they are ready to step up to the competition. With HHC looming next week, this meet was a great sign of things to come for the Golden Bears.
Individual highlights for the evening include:
Miriam Garringer breaking the 1 minute mark in the 100 Freestyle for the first time in her swim career. Miriam also swam a 26. 46 in her 50 Freestyle, a drop of .5 seconds.
Yui Fukuzawa and Raven Bolden continue to improve in their senior year. Yui continues to make a push for the 4th spot in the 200 Freestyle Relay, dropping more time again in her 50 Freestyle. Raven broke 1:30.00 in the 100 Breaststroke for the first time in her swim career.
Will Rife and Tyler Harker continue to lead the way for the boys side. Will dropping even more time in his 50 Butterfly and continuing to improve the 200 Medley Relay. Tyler continues to out do every matching performance from last season. Last night marking his 10th time, in as many swims, he’s swam faster than that point the previous year.
Trey Carrell got back on track, proving he’s ready to step up to the A 200 Freestyle Relay. dropping back down into the 24s for his 50 split. He, Mitchell Compton, Will Rife, and Tyler Harker look to continue the Golden Bears strong 200 Freestyle performances of recent years.
